6. Learners

The Seren Academy is your super-curricular route to success.

To become a Seren learner, your school will recognise you as having the potential to succeed at leading universities. Within stage one (Years 8 and 9) of the academy, your teachers will lead you through the Seren programme of activity to ignite your curiosity and find your passion.

When moving to stage two (Years 10 and 11), you will be invited to register to be part of the academy and to register for your place via the online portal, Seren Space. Once you have registered, you will receive an invitation for you to attend a 'welcome meeting' hosted by your local Seren lead.

Stages two and three provide you with an opportunity to be empowered to make ambitious, informed choices about your future educational pathway and advance your ability to reach your potential and succeed at leading universities.

The academy programme will:

  • Provide opportunities for you to meet other Seren learners across Wales.
  • Support you to develop subject specific knowledge through university style learning.
  • Enable you to make an informed choice about your future.
  • Prepare you with the skills required to reach your goal.
  • The opportunities provided to you will include challenges to build confidence and stretch your ability.
  • Information on options and opportunities.
  • Guidance and mentoring on how to achieve your goal.
  • Learning and experiences with leading universities.
  • Meet previous Seren learners studying at leading universities.

These opportunities will support you to further your super-curricular exploration and push the boundaries of your academic development and engagement. The intensity of opportunities and the level of your commitment increases as you progress through each stage.

We encourage you to seize as many opportunities as you can, but what you choose to get involved with is up to you.
