Schools as learning organisations

Model

Guidance on our model to help the introduction of the new curriculum.

Progress

Since the SLO model launched in November 2017:

  • 40% of school have engaged with the model
  • over 2,000 practitioners have responded to the survey

‘Early enablers’ are schools that have:

  • completed the SLO survey
  • are already developing as learning organisations.

Early enablers are working with other schools to support them in their own setting. They are vital to promote the SLO approach to other schools. At a national SLO conference in July 2018, early enablers presented to other schools:

  • to share best practice
  • how they have used their survey results to inform improvement

In October 2018, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) published a report on:

  • how schools are developing as learning organisations
  • areas for future improvement to support national SLO roll-out

Next steps

We will extend the SLO approach to all schools, with support from regional consortia and early enablers from the Autumn term 2018. Keep up to date with SLOs on our curriculum blog.
