Schools as learning organisations

Model

Welsh Government launched the Schools as Learning Organisations (SLO) approach in 2017 to support schools to prepare for the new curriculum in 2022.

Guidance on our model to help the introduction of the new curriculum.

Progress

Our progress to develop schools as learning organisations was reviewed by OECD in 2018. See final report for further details.

The majority of schools are now developing as learning organisations and use the SLO model as the basis for continuous development.

The starting point for schools to begin their SLO journey is the SLO survey. Schools can repeat the survey annually to support their professional learning journey.

Survey results will highlight key strengths, areas for development and ways of working to enable all staff to develop professionally.

The 2020 to 2021 SLO survey is now live. The survey will be available throughout the academic year.
