Building on the 2024 National Network Conversations on Curriculum and Progression, this National Conversation in Summer 2024 will focus on the role of pedagogy in supporting our understanding of Curriculum for Wales.

Supported by Professor Graham Donaldson, this National Conversation will provide you with the opportunity to:

  • engage in professional conversations with practitioners from across Wales, to stop, reflect and learn from each other as we continue our Curriculum for Wales journey
  • ‘Talk Pedagogy, Think Learning’ in a safe space. Colleagues from schools and settings will be able to engage with each other and with education partners including Estyn, school improvement services, Higher Education Institutions and the leadership academy
  • 'Talk Pedagogy, Think Leadership'. Explore how we are developing as reflective, enquiring learning organisations providing the best experiences for the learners of Wales

Whether you are a leader, teacher or teaching assistant in a school in Wales, you will find this a valuable opportunity to share thinking, learn from others and cultivate relationships that will strengthen our shared understanding of Curriculum for Wales.

The conversation will be stimulated by emerging findings from the Talk Pedagogy Research Project which you directly contribute to by completing the survey found in this Education Wales update. You can also access a resource to support reflection on pedagogy.

Previous conversations will be helpful to support your involvement in the national conversation and hold conversations within your own setting.

This National Conversation in Summer 2024 will focus on the opportunities, challenges, and implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for education in Wales.

AI is a hot topic of conversation across the world, and its potential to change education is a key part of that. From the promise of innovation and efficiencies to support schools and settings, to the very real considerations around privacy, bias, and well-being, AI tools are poised to profoundly affect the way we learn, work and live.

This National Network Conversation will focus on the particular opportunities and challenges presented by Generative AI tools. It will provide a forum for practitioners across Wales to discuss and consider the implications of these tools in their own work and in the classroom.

The conversation is aimed at all school leaders, practitioners, governors and support staff with an interest in how artificial intelligence will increasingly impact upon the education system.
