National Symposium
- Tuesday 1st April 2025
- Cardiff: venue to be confirmed
This national symposium will showcase the innovative work of schools across Wales in realising the new Curriculum for Wales. Join us to explore how practice is changing in schools across Wales who have been exploring curriculum realisation through the Camau i'r Dyfodol research project.
What will those attending get out of the symposium?
- Discover practical examples and stories from schools that are moving curriculum design towards a process approach in realising Curriculum for Wales.
- Learn about the three "movements" of the process approach: understanding "worthwhileness", developing engaging pedagogies, and implementing meaningful assessment.
- Discuss real-world experiences and shared challenges with colleagues from across Wales.
- Gain valuable insights from the Camau i'r Dyfodol research team, including key findings and practical resources.
- Network with fellow teachers, researchers, and policymakers to build connections and foster collaboration.
Whichever part of the system you are involved in, the reflections and sharing from these schools will give you opportunity to share practice and be part of the wider discussion, through workshops and presentations reflecting the 3 areas Camau I’r Dyfodol has been supporting schools with:
- how to centre your planning for learning and teaching around the idea of ‘worthwhileness’
- pedagogies, activities and experiences
- assessment and learner progression
The event will also include presentations from the CAMAU project team to provide context, research findings and further information.

Overview
Talk pedagogy, think learning
In response to the National Network Conversations on Purpose, Pedagogy and Progression in summer 2024, we will hear from schools and settings across Wales to explore how Curriculum for Wales is helping us to think differently about learning and teaching with purpose.
This National Conversation will provide you with the opportunity to engage in professional learning conversations that help us to ‘join the dots’ between guidance and practice in your classroom:
- to consider a range of different approaches to learning and teaching for different purposes.
- to discuss and reflect on the role of the practitioner and the environment in securing different aspects of learner development and progress.
- to hear from colleagues about first hand class-room experiences that will support our reflections and discussions.
Whether you are a leader, practitioner or teaching assistant in a school in Wales, you will find this a valuable opportunity to share thinking and practice, learn from others and cultivate relationships that will strengthen our shared understanding of Curriculum for Wales.
Watch our videos and read the report from previous conversations to understand the benefits of taking part.
