Camau i'r Dyfodol has brought together practitioners, school leaders and partners across the education system to co-construct new knowledge and approaches to support curriculum realisation, and in particular, progression.

These materials are the result of this co-construction process, and have been created for use by individuals, schools and clusters to support a deeper understanding of Curriculum for Wales as a purpose-led, process-orientated curriculum. It also aims to support approaches to progression in curriculum design.

The materials have been designed to support practitioners across Wales to:

  • undertake the same process of learning and thinking about curriculum and progression as participants in the Camau i'r Dyfodol project
  • access materials created by the project’s participants, designed to support practical understanding and realisation of progression in Curriculum for Wales

This video outlines the nature and purpose of these materials and provides an overview of the content of each section. The video also discusses how these materials were created.

  2. Assessment and progression in a purpose-led curriculum
  3. Curriculum realisation: from national to local contexts

Each section includes:

Key ideas

These introduce the ideas underpinning Curriculum for Wales and its approach to assessment, progression and realisation. These can be used by individual practitioners, or as part of broader school or cluster discussions to develop understanding.

Exploring further

These guides and activities allow more detailed exploration of the ideas, including reflective questions at key points to support thinking and discussion about practical understandings of Curriculum for Wales.

Thinking into practice

These sections include materials developed directly by practitioners, school leaders and educational partners to support practical understandings of progression, as well as guides and activities which draw together the thinking of contributors. These can be used by individuals or groups of practitioners to support ongoing realisation of Curriculum for Wales in practice.
