Adobe Spark for Education is now Adobe Creative Cloud Express for Education

Adobe Creative Cloud Express for Education is a cloud-based Adobe tool browser-enabled device or iOS. Adobe Creative Cloud Express for Education makes it fast and easy for students and teachers to turn ideas into beautiful graphics, web stories, and video presentations. Students are having fun with Creative Cloud Express; they’re engaging with the material, and that ultimately leads to unlocking their creativity

Adobe Creative Cloud Express for Education is available to all school staff, local authority and regional education consortia Hwb users, supply teachers and learners as part of the Hwb Additional Services.

Option 1: Accessing Adobe Creative Cloud Express using a browser

Most Hwb users will access Adobe Creative Cloud Express for Education through their browser.

  1. Login to Hwb
  2. Click the Adobe Creative Cloud Express tile. Alternatively, navigate to https://express.adobe.com/sp
  3. Select Login with your Hwb username and password
  4. Enter your Hwb username > Click Continue.
  5. Enter your Hwb password > Click Sign In.

You will be presented with the Adobe Creative Cloud Express for Education Main Page

Adobe Creative Cloud Express for Education contains all the premium features of Adobe Creative Cloud Express such as access to the library of Adobe Fonts and premium templates. The free image search has safe search enabled. Please note that when posting an Adobe Creative Cloud Express creation the URL is unique and not indexed by search engines.

Option 2: Accessing Adobe Creative Cloud Express for Education on iPad/iPhone

To access Adobe Creative Cloud Express for Education on an iPad or iPhone, you will need to download three separate apps from the App Store: Adobe Creative Cloud Express, Spark Video and Spark Page.

1. Go to your App Store and download the apps or visit https://adobe.com/education/express for the links to the iOS apps.

It is possible to add images into an Adobe Creative Cloud Express project directly from your Google Drive.  The first time you select this option, you may see a warning message saying that Adobe Creative Cloud Express wants to access your Google account.

You must click the blue 'Allow' button if you wish to import images stored in your Google Drive.

Adobe Creative Cloud Express lets you turn your text and photos into great-looking, attention-grabbing graphics such as posters, cover pages, certificates or revision cards.

Creating an Adobe Creative Cloud Express Graphic

  1. In the web version of Creative Cloud Express click ‘+ Create a Project’ and then select the type of content you want to create (Video, Page, or Post).
  2. To create a graphic select one of the most commonly used graphics listed or select ‘custom size graphic’
  3. Select or define your graphic size
  4. In the created canvas, use the ‘+’ to add your content (images, text or icons)
  5. Choose ‘templates’, ‘design’, ‘colors’, ‘layout’ and ‘resize’ options to edit your graphic

Sharing an Adobe Creative Cloud Express Graphic

There are several ways to share your graphic:

  1. To download the graphic use the ‘Download’ button on top of the page and select the format you wish your graphic to be downloaded as (png, jpg or pdf)
  2. To share your graphic through an URL, use the ‘Share’ button on top of the page and generate a link to your graphic using the ‘Link’ button

Submitting an Adobe Creative Cloud Express graphic as a Pupil to a Microsoft Teams Assignment

There are two options;

  1. Submit the link for sharing (note that if the user updates the content and republishes then the updated version will be seen by the teacher).
  2. Request that the pupil downloads their image as a png or jpeg file and uploads this to the assignment. This option stops the pupil from making any changes after submission.

Collaborating on an Adobe Creative Cloud Express Graphic

To collaborate on an Adobe Creative Cloud Express and allow another user to edit your graphic:

  1. Select ‘Share’ button on top of the page and select ‘Invite’
  2. Type in the email addresses of those you wish to invite to collaborate
  3. Click ‘Invite’

An email with a collaboration link is shared with the other user. They also see the projects that have been shared with them on their main Adobe Creative Cloud Express (‘Shared with You’ tab)

Creating a webpage with Adobe Creative Cloud Express

  1. In the web version of Adobe Creative Cloud Express click ‘+ Create a Project’ and then select ‘Web page’
  2. In the created page, add title to your page and a background image

By scrolling down you will see a ‘+’ button allowing you to start adding your content (photos, text, buttons, videos, photo grids, ‘glideshows’ and split layouts)

Once you have added your content, by hovering over it you will be presented with options to edit, change or present your content in different ways.

Editing your page in Adobe Creative Cloud Express

In addition to editing individual content items on your page, you can change the theme by selecting the ‘Theme’ button on top of the page.

Previewing your Page in Adobe Creative Cloud Express

To preview your Page select ‘Preview’ on top of the page.

Presenting your Page in Adobe Creative Cloud Express

If you would like to present using your Page, click ‘Present’ at the top of the page. You can use your arrow keys to smoothly move to the next or previous content item on your page.

Publishing and sharing Page in Adobe Creative Cloud Express

To publish and share the page:

  1. Select ‘Share’ and ‘Publish and share’ from the top of the page.
  2. You will be asked to define your page title, category and if the author’s name and the photo credits will be shown at the bottom of the page.
  3. Click ‘Create link’

You will be presented with the options to copy the URL to your page or directly publish it to Google Classroom or Email.

Warning

Please note that you need to republish (‘Update Link’) your page after any changes you make. The URL remains the same, but for your changes to become visible for the viewers please select ‘Share’ > ‘Publish and Share Link’ > ‘Update link’

To get an embedded link to your page:

  1. Select ‘Share’ and ‘Publish and share’ from the top of the page.
  2. You will be asked to define your page title, category and if the author’s name and the photo credits will be shown at the bottom of the page.
  3. Click ‘Create link’
  4. Select ‘Embed’ and copy the provided embed link

Submitting an Adobe Creative Cloud Express page as a Learner to a Microsoft Teams Assignment

You have two options:

  1. Create the published URL and add this as a URL to the Team Assignment. Note: learners can make changes after this has been submitted.
  2. Publish the page and choose the PDF option. Note: this will remove some of the look and animations of the content but will retain the images and text for assessment.

Printing your Page in Adobe Creative Cloud Express

To print your Page to PDF or printer, select ‘Share’ and ‘Print’. After defining the printing destination, layout and colour, click ‘Print’. (This currently works on Google Chrome and the New Microsoft Edge Browser)

Adobe Creative Cloud Express lets you quickly combine video clips, photos, icons, and voiceover narration to create compelling visual essays, presentations, lessons, and more.

Creating a Video in Adobe Creative Cloud Express

  1. In the web version of Adobe Creative Cloud Express click ‘+ Create a Project’ and then select ‘Video’
  2. Give your video a name and select ‘Start from scratch’
  3. Your Creative Cloud Express Video consists of content slides that can include video, text, photo or icons
  4. To add, delete or duplicate your content slides, use the bottom bar on the page showing all the slides in your video
  5. To add content to individual content slides, select the slide and click ‘+’ in the middle of the slide. You will be given options to add video, text, photo or icons.

Editing your Video in Adobe Creative Cloud Express

To add voice-over to your video, press and hold the red microphone icon presented at the bottom of each slide. You will record voice-over slide by slide. Maximum length of each slide recording is 30 seconds. If you need longer, duplicate your slide and continue your voice-over on the second slide.

To edit or turn the music on/off, select ‘Music’ from the upper right-hand corner of the page. You have many different music options available or you can add your own music selecting ‘Add my music’.

To edit the layout of your content slides, select ‘Layout’ from upper right-hand corner of the page and select from the options provided: full screen, split screen, caption or title slide.

To edit the theme of your video (colors, fonts, transitions), select ‘Theme’ from upper right-hand corner of the page and select your desired theme and color.

To edit the size of your video (widescreen or square), select ‘Resize’ from upper right-hand corner and select one of the options provided.

To preview your Video select ‘Preview’ on top of the page.

Downloading your Video in Adobe Creative Cloud Express

To download the video, use the ‘Download’ button on top of the page. Video will be downloaded as MP4.

  1. Publish the video - copy the URL and paste it into the assignment. Note the learner can update the content after submission.
  2. Download the video as an MP4 file from Video in Adobe Creative Cloud Express and upload load the video for their submission.

Collaborating on a Video in Adobe Creative Cloud Express

The default language for the Adobe Creative Cloud Express app is determined by your browser’s default language setting. You can also change the default language for Adobe Creative Cloud Express by following these steps:

  1. Log into Hwb and click on the Adobe Creative Cloud Express tile;
  2. Wait for the page to load and click on your profile (often represented by a coloured circle in the top right hand corner) > Click Settings;
  3. Under Language > Choose your preferred language (e.g. Welsh) > wait for the page to refresh;
  4. Click the cross in the top right to close the pop up. The app will then be presented with the interface in Welsh.

Adobe Fonts

As part of your Adobe Creative Cloud Express for Education License you can sync Adobe fonts for use with Adobe Creative Cloud Express

  1. Login to https://fonts.adobe.com
  2. If not logged in to Adobe Creative Cloud Express Click Sign In, Enter your Hwb username > Click Continue.
  3. Enter your Hwb password > Click Sign In.
  4. Browse or Search for a Font type
  5. View a Font Family
  6. Select “Activate Font”

These fonts will then appear in your Font Selection with Adobe Creative Cloud Express.
