Hwb DigiFest is designed to foster collaboration, innovation, and knowledge-sharing in digital learning and teaching. The day will provide practitioners with opportunity to learn more about the suite of digital tools and resources available through Hwb. Throughout the day our partners including Adobe, Apple, Britannica, Common Sense Education, Flip, Google, Just2easy, Microsoft, Minecraft and Technocamps will be providing insightful sessions on how their tools and resources can be used in school to deliver the Curriculum for Wales.

Hwb DigiFest will take place virtually through Microsoft Teams on Monday 2 September 2024 between 9:30am and 2:30pm.

Please note: Individual registration is required for practitioners and professionals intending to join Hwb DigiFest. We understand that practitioners may join Hwb DigiFest by logging in on one device and watching together on a large screen. However, we still require each attendee to complete the registration form.

You can join in for the whole day or pick ‘n’ mix the sessions that suit your school’s needs. Practitioners can join as a department or school, but they also have the freedom to join sessions individually to suit their own professional learning needs. New sessions will be added when they become available.

    This session is a perfect first step to making the most of your Hwb accounts to improve learning and teaching with a focus on creativity using Adobe Express. This is a great opportunity to have all staff (teaching and support staff) certified as Adobe Level 1 Creative Educators.

    This session will show how to access and use Britannica School through Hwb with a specific focus on differentiation. In this session we will highlight tools within the platform to support a range of needs within the classroom such as; learners with English as an additional language and learners with additional learning needs.

    This interactive session will be an introduction to MakeCode Arcade, learning essential programming concepts while crafting a short platformer game. By the end of the session, practitioners will gain the confidence and skills to tailor MakeCode Arcade for their classroom, and to aid in building the foundations of programming, computational thinking and game development in their learners.

In this session you will discover how Machine Learning is being used in a variety of different ways from speech recognition to Google maps. You will then develop your knowledge regarding appropriate and non-appropriate data when training a machine before implementing your own Machine Learning Scratch game.

    The ongoing youth mental health crisis is so deeply connected with learners’ tech experiences, and educators have a crucial role to play. we will introduce a collection of lessons, co-developed by Common Sense Education and the Center for Digital Thriving at Harvard Graduate School of Education, that help bring digital well-being support into the classroom.
