The endorsement process is in its pilot phase and may change in future.

Endorsement of professional learning provision will follow a 4-stage process. The approximate timeframe from submitting an application to receiving notification of the final outcome is two months.

Providers working in partnerships or alliances at regional or national level can submit a group application for endorsement.

Applications can be submitted in Welsh or English.

Stage 1: application

The online application form includes full details of how to apply.

The application form comprises 2 sections:

Section 1

  • A brief overview of the provider's experience and track record.
  • An overview of the provision, its aims, objectives and intended learning outcomes.

Section 2

A statement of no more than 850 words evidencing the endorsement criteria:

  1. Rationale for design.
  2. Delivery and learning model.
  3. Evaluation, impact and sustainability.

Points to consider:

  • Applications must be submitted via the online form.
  • Word count limitations include spaces.
  • Note restrictions regarding supplementary evidence.

Assessment of applications

Applications will be assessed by a panel chaired by a member of the National Endorsement Panel.

Applications successful at Stage 1 will progress directly to Stage 2 (panel interview).

If the provision does not meet the minimum quality threshold, the application will not proceed to stage 2, however the provider will receive developmental feedback to re-submit the application.

Stage 2: panel interview

This will be an opportunity for the provider to meet with the National Endorsement Panel to further discuss the provision and deliver a short presentation.

The interview panel will be chaired by a member of the National Endorsement Panel.

Stage 3: outcome

Successful applications will be awarded ‘endorsed’ status for a 5-year period.

Applicants who have not yet met the endorsement criteria will be provided with developmental feedback to re-submit their application.

Providers cannot appeal against the final decision of the Endorsement Panel, however there will be an opportunity to re-submit the application, based on panel recommendations.

Stage 4: monitoring

The Endorsement Panel will conduct interim monitoring of endorsed provision to ensure quality standards are maintained. Providers can expect the endorsed provision to be quality assured on a regular basis, following a completed cycle of delivery.
