Overview
The Welsh Government has worked closely with the Google for Education UK team to develop a solution for enrolling Chromebooks for schools on the hwbcymru.net domain.
All procurement is to be undertaken between schools, local authorities and Google partners. We encourage schools to liaise with their local authority prior to purchasing Chromebooks and/or licences.
There are three enrolment options for maintained schools in Wales:
- 'White glove service' - Schools purchasing Chromebooks and device management licences from a Google partner for enrolment on the hwbcymru.net domain.
- 'Enrolment service' - Schools who have unmanaged Chromebooks and wish to have them managed on the hwbcymru.net domain need to purchase device management licences from a Google partner.
- 'Transfer service' - Schools with Chromebooks currently enrolled on a non hwbcymru.net domain who wish to transfer.
Hwb Chromebook device management dashboard
The Welsh Government has developed a User Management Portal which is used by schools across Wales to manage aspects of users and devices connected to the hwbcymru.net domain.
Google partners may contact the Hwb Service Desk (hwb@gov.wales) to obtain login details to the User Management Portal with access to the Hwb Chromebook Device Management dashboard.
A guide for Google partners is available from the Hwb Service Desk.
