Details

Careers and the world of work (CWW) forms part of the basic curriculum for all registered pupils aged 11 to 16 at maintained schools. It is also part of the requirements of the Learning Core of Learning Pathways 14-19.

The starting point for all learning providers in Wales is 'Careers and the world of work: a framework for 11 to 19-year-olds in Wales'. This framework brings together and revises the previous frameworks for work-related education and careers education and guidance. It is the key document that learning providers should use to review and develop CWW provision for 11 to 19-year-olds.

The framework is supplemented by guidance designed to provide coordinators with a selection of key materials to assist them in the management of this area. It is addressed to all who work in this area but with a recognition that providers will select those parts that are particularly relevant to their circumstances.

The templates and samples within the guidance are also accessible in word format. They are offered as a starting point to ensure that no one needs to create the basic tools of their work from scratch.

Further support and training is provided in a wide range of ways by Careers Wales and providers are encouraged to talk with their local careers company about their particular needs. Further information can be found on the Careers Wales website (external link).
