C.A.L.L (Community Advice & Listening Line)

C.A.L.L is mental health helpline for Wales and open to people of all ages

Anyone concerned about their own mental health or that of a relative or friend can access this service. The C.A.L.L. helpline and text message services offer confidential listening and support to the people of Wales.

C.A.L.L is a Welsh Government funded service that is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Childline

Online, on the phone, anytime

Childline is a free, private and confidential service available to anyone under 19 in the UK where you can talk about anything. Whatever your worry, they are there to listen.

There are lots of different ways to speak to a Childline counsellor or get support from other young people.

You can call on 0800 1111.  It is free to call and it won’t show on your bill. Lines are open 9am to midnight.

You can speak with a counsellor in a safe space online about whatever is worrying you in a 1-2-1 chat

You can join other young people and get advice and support on the message boards.

You can set up a Childline account and send an email from your locker.

Help and advice about violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence

The Live Fear Free Helpline is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week and can provide free help and advice to:

  • anyone experiencing domestic abuse
  • anyone who knows someone who needs help, for example, a friend, family member or colleague
  • practitioners seeking professional advice.

All conversations with Live Fear Free are confidential and with staff who are highly experienced and fully trained.

Someone on your side

Meic is a confidential, anonymous, and free bilingual helpline service for children and young people up to the age of 25 in Wales.

From finding out what’s going on in your local area to help dealing with a difficult situation, Meic will listen even when it feels like no-one else will. They won’t judge you and will help by giving you information, useful advice and the support you need.

Every childhood is worth fighting for

The NSPCC work to protect children and prevent abuse.

If you’re 18 or under, contact Childline on 0800 1111 for free, confidential advice and support whatever your worry, whenever you need help.

If you're worried about a child, even if you're unsure, contact the NSPCC helpline which is staffed by trained professionals who can provide expert advice and support. They can help if you’re concerned about a child, if you’re a parent or carer looking for advice, or if you’re a professional in need of information and guidance.

Papyrus

If you are having thoughts of suicide or are concerned for a young person who might be, you can contact Papyrus for confidential support and practical advice via their helpline, text service or email.

Papyrus is a national charity dedicated to the prevention of young suicide. Their vision is for a society which speaks openly about suicide and has the resources to help young people who may have suicidal thoughts.

Professionals Online Safety Helpline (POSH)

Supporting professionals working with children and young people

Operated by the UK Safer Internet Centre this helpline is solely dedicated to supporting all members of the community working with or for children with any online safety issues they, or children and young people in their care, may face.  

They offer free and independent advice on any number of online safety issues, including: privacy, online reputation, gaming, grooming, cyberbullying, sexting, inappropriate behaviour on social media and more.
