This page provides information about resources that are available to support learners in years 12 and 13 to prepare for their A Level assessments.

Supporting learners undertaking A Levels in years 12 and 13 is one of our key priorities as we respond to the Covid-19 pandemic, in order to enable them to have the best opportunity to succeed in their assessments during the 2020/21 academic year.

On this page, you will find links to resources to help learners reinforce and complement their classroom learning and prepare for assessments.

Resources will be uploaded to the WJEC website every two weeks. We will also add links to the revision guides on this page on a regular basis from February, so keep an eye out for the latest resources.

Resources are being designed to enable self-study by all learners at any time. Resources will be made available on the WJEC website for A2 units in the following subjects:

  • Business
  • Geography
  • Psychology
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Physics

Knowledge organisers will provide learners with a summary of the key facts and essential knowledge that they will need. They contain only crucial information that will help learners to make links between themes and condense content into bitesize chunks.

To use them effectively learners should:

1) Start looking at the knowledge organiser as they start revising for assessments to provide context, key information, reinforcement and to help identify which topics need further focus as part of revision

2) Continually put them away and try to write out what they can remember. Research has shown that ‘retrieval’ is an excellent way to deepen learning.

Knowledge organisers are available on the WJEC website in a wide range of subjects, You can search for them on NEW Knowledge Organisers.

An exam walk through will give learners useful information on what to expect in an assessment or exam. They offer practical hints and tips on how to effectively approach questions. Using questions from past exam papers, the resource will walk learners through a mock examination paper, helping them revise and practise useful exam techniques.

Although we have agreed that exams will not take place during summer 2021, an exam walk through is still a useful revision tool for learners as they prepare for the assessments that will take place instead of the exams.

Exam walk throughs are available on the WJEC website in a wide range of subjects, You can search for them on Exam Walk Throughs.

We are developing revision guides for some A Level subjects that will help learners revise for each unit of the specification. Learners can access these at any time to help reinforce classroom learning or prepare for assessments.

The key concepts within each unit have their own dedicated playlist on Hwb that will guide learners through a revision journey. This journey will recap key information in a short succinct video and provide activities to allow learners to apply and master their knowledge. Each playlist will provide learners with self-marking opportunities, often in the form of a video answer.

These resources at AS and A2 level will be made available from February 2021 onwards in the subjects listed below.

• Mathematics
• History
• Sociology
• English Literature
• Religious Studies
• Media Studies
• Physical Education
• Art & Design
